Would you not have wanted to join me on my rafting trip to the national park in Montana?
What an exciting way to spend the weekend, relaxing on the water in a raft. Float down the river, take on the rapids, and get wet until your socks start screaming "No More Water" and your toes and fingers look lick swollen raisins. Well that that is what you can expect if you follow my footsteps or rather "my extremely fun but wet adventure" during my trip to US, it is for sure one of the most memorable parts. So the next 3 days could be spent paddling and camping along the Upper Middle Fork before reaching the take-out at Bear Creek. You'll experience exciting whitewater and great fishing for dinner. The rapids of Three Forks, 25-Mile Creek, Lunch Creek and Spruce Park Gorge make this a real adventure. The lower water trips/pockets (beginning of July) are especially good for the avid fisherman, at least they told me so, and we did not have any problems taking our share of fish. The North Fork of the Flathead River is a five-minute drive for premiere fly-fishing, or you could float the river, with or without a guide. Glacier National Park is a seven minute drive. If you find yourself weary after a day of fun, kick back camping center for some wine and cheese hour, or grill up your fish for dinner on the Barbecue they provide. For some trout fishing you could go to the Upper Middle Fork that usually has a good bounty of native Westslope cutthroat, as do the high mountain lakes in this area. The emphasis on this trip is the overall experience: camping, rafting, hiking, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors in goof company. The agenda is subject to change due to trail conditions, weather, water levels and group interests. When you get home you'll have the memory of the adventure and excitement of the rapids, you'll appreciate the quiet of the calm stretches and you'll feel better having spent three -four days with Mother Nature in all her natural splendor. It should not be forgotten that this is a "wild" river, and, as the classification of this river implies, it should not be taken lightly. So you must be in good physical condition. Don't forget to pack a "couple" of spare socks and really wrap them in dry. Otherwise you wont have warm and dry socks after a wet day rafting.. // TomYam |
